Asberg married Gunder Nelson 29 June 1840. In 1845 they along with their five children (Lewis, Kjersti (1842-1846) and Karen Marie (1844-1846) from their marriage and Nils and daughter Marte Torine (1832-1847) from Gunder's first marriage) made the journey from Norway to America settling in the Rock River settlement of Wisconsin.
Below is a family tree listing the descendents of Asberg and Gunder Nelson as of 1928. The tree appeared as a fold out in the 1928 first edition of the, "Genealogy and History of the Nelson Family". Names of the members of the family by descent are printed in capital letters. Names of persons married into the family are printed in small typeface. (click on chart or picture to enlarge)
Here the family grew with the addition of six children between 1849 and 1862 (One of these children, Kjersti Marie, would pass away in 1852). Finally, the family settled in Kasson, Minnesota April 2, 1868.
The pictures below are of Asberg and Gunder Nelson's children as well as Gunder's first son Nils Gunderson. These photos are from Mary Nelson's (1920-2007) copy of the 1928 first edition of "Genealogy and History of the Nelson Family" by A. G. Nelson. These pictures along with a more detailed account of the above information can also be found in the recent 3rd Edition by Jean Nelson-Collins.
