The Home of Elling and Anna Marie Thygesen

Here are the notes that Thomas Gregerson (Minnie and Carl Gregerson's son) wrote about the picture.

It's of the home of Elling and Anna Marie Thygesen.  They built it in 1862 on their 80 acre farm in Pierce County, Wisconsin near Martell.  Elling told Thomas Gregerson the house cost $2000 to build.

The house was torn down by Otto Helmer and his son, Grant Helmer, in 1937.  The house was falling down and had been abandoned.  Some of the lumber was used to add an apartment to the Helmer house on an 80 acre farm in Annoka, Minnesota where Inger Tomine "Minnie" Thygesen lived for a number of years until she passed away in 1956.  Minnie is buried in the Rush River Church Cemetery near Martell, WI.

*Marc Hansen confirmed that "Tom is no doubt Thomas Thygesen, Brother Knud's only son.  He never married, moved to North Dakota a bit west and north of Minot ... and was a prototypical Norwegian Bachelor Farmer."

Elling Thygesen is a grandson of Knud Thygesen Naas.
