The DNA results continue to pour in, and today there was a first. Alice had a strong match with Roger Jacobsen's sample. His attached tree jumped right out with Alice's line of connection, since his gr GM was Milla Caroline Saga Erickson, married to Wilhelm Jacobsen. Milla was the 1st cousin of Alice's gr gr GM, Maren Saga Norvold. Their closest common ancestor is Maren and Ingeborg Saga's mother Marie Hansdtr Grini Saga, and her husband,, who were the immigrants. Alice is Roger Jacobsen's 3rd Cousin 1x Removed.
Roger included a small tree, and I noted that his gr GF was Rev, Jørgen Andreas Thorsen, and that sounded familiar. Indeed, he was in my tree as the the son of Tor Knudsen Naas and Mariken Steinarsdtr Åkre ... and the grandson of KTN 1760! Roger is therefore my 4th Cousin 1x Rem (and cousin therefore of many of you too). This is the first DNA match that includes both Alice and I. Fortunately it's not so close that we have to annul our 63 year marriage ... close call.
If others are having Drangedal DNA matches, it would be interesting if you shared them. My Drangedal related matches are about the most numerous, but there are also many for my Danish Nebel line.
We are at our cabin in Silver Gate, MT for the Summer. If anybody plans to be in Yellowstone, we'd be happy to have visitors stop by.
