A Helpful and Interesting Book

I was very pleased to be introduced to Roger Johnson by Jean Simonson Cornwell.  Roger has spent years, working with Clayton Swanton, documenting the early history of the Norwegian and Swedish settlements at Pine Lake, Ashippun and Rock River beginning with the first arrivals in  1841.  Roger has published a book on the founding of the first Norwegian churches between 1841 and 1846.    Thyge Knudsen Naas and his wife Mariken, their daughter Asborg and her husband Gunder Nilsen Naas and her brothers Ole and Elling Thygesen arrived in 1845, and became active participants in the settlements and church.   Roger has copies available, which are priced at  $30 plus $5 for shipping.  If you are interested, Roger can be reached at 414-651-3915, or at farmstone@aol.com.    All proceeds from sale of the book benefit the St Olaf Congregation.
