New (Old) Photos

In going through old material, I discovered a copy of an old photo of Ole and Petra Thygesen, which must date from their years in Bellingham.  It is not of good quality, but the only one that I have ever seen of their later life.  If anyone has a better quality image, I would be very pleased to receive a copy to replace this one.

This picture is of Ole and Petras younger daughter, Julia Thygesen Simonson and her husband Martin, as well as two aunts, two daughters and two nieces.
Another 'find' was a copy of a nice photo of Lilly Simonson Ellefson.   Lilly was the daughter of Ole and Petra's daughter Julia, and Martin Gregorius Simonson.   The picture was taken at her 100th birthday, and if my data is correct, she lived another six years!

Her son Randolph (Bud) Ellefson was the first person I met after starting my quest for the descendants of Asborg, Ole and Elling.   We were delighted to find each other, and Bud was a source of much encouragement and information.    The following pictures were from visits that Bud made to Naas in 1984, and his daughter Linda made in 1995.  Both are holding the Communion Chalice given to the Drangedal Kirke in 1791 by Knud Thygesen Naas (1760) and his wife Anne Asulfsdtr Tveidt.  The Chalice follows.

And just below the Thygesens and Simonsons and Ellefsons, we have another set of guests ... cousins!

The last photo is my wife Alice and I in 2005 ... same chalice and bowl ... and same Prest.  We are all longer of tooth, but the vessels are unchanging, after more than 200 years, and still used for special occasions.

  1. Making a Comment: As I have said in my emails, you can SEE all the content on the site if you have the address: http://tnreunion.blogspot.com/ However, it is a bit more confusing if you wish to make a comment of your own. To add a comment, you need to be signed in to the site. To do this, you need to click the sign in botton at top right. You will be asked for your email address and password. If you do not have a google account, you will be taken to the procedure to set one up, and create a profile, that includes at least your name. My daughter encountered this, and the comment she left was not printed ... but took her to the sign in steps. She does already have a google account, and after she signed in, her comment was accepted. But remember, you do not need to do this to SEE and read the site. If others have questions, I'd be glad to try to answer them.
